Part 3- Camels on the beach

I'm sure i gave some of you a distorted perception of Dubai with the picture I posted on John's birthday.
it really isn't an every day sighting.
however,
it wasn't staged
or photoshopped (I heard the rumor)
or planned
the guy with the camels, (for lack of a better name) is there for the pictures.
he's a tourist attraction more-or-less.
(this whole city is a bunch of tourist attractions)
He's there to give camel rides.
Not sure how much it costs, how long the rides are, who he works for, etc.
In fact, I don't think I've ever seen anyone taking a ride.
Many a times on our visits to the beach we've watched him ride up and down the stretch of sand between the Hilton and the Sheraton hotels, probably hoping someone wants a ride, and kindly stopping for people like us who just want a picture or to let the kids say, "hi camel".

First time we saw him, we thought "that would be a fun picture to have- the kids playing on the beach with a camel casually wandering in the background. It might get a few laughs from our friends"
Unfortunately, every time the photo opp. presented itself- the camera wasn't in our hands or vice-versa.
when we did have a camera, the kids were more interested in the camels than the photographer.
so, here's what we've got:

Maybe when it's beach weather again (ironically after the summer) we'll get some better pictures with the camel man.

sidenote: that last picture of me was about 12 hours before giving birth.  Asher is [conveniently] blocking the full belly shot.
sidenote #2: Can you believe camels can drink saltwater?  (or else I shouldn't believe everything I read on the internet)
