How 'bout them apples?

Saturday we enjoyed a beautiful fall morning in Ashland picking apples from the "Clark farm". The Clarks are family friends and let us pick all the apples we wanted from two of their trees. These trees were covered and we have more apples than we know what to do with.

Although I loved apple picking in Boston last year, you just can't beat the prices at the Clark farm: FREE!!! plus they had cows to feed, the truck to drive and pumpkins and sunflowers as well as apples. When we went on Monday night to pick apples, Ma Clark even fed us dinner and dessert!

Asher loved driving the mini- John deer. I had to put the apples in the back to make it look more authentic. John did a good job of helping Asher avoid any obstacles. Harrison and Ivy supervised and the rest of us, picked to our hearts content- or until our buckets and the trunk was full.

It was a beautiful day and I kept thinking, if I could convince more families (aka. YOU) to move here and find jobs for everyone (including ourselves), I would.

oh, I also asked Ma Clark if I could take home 2 of her sunflowers and attempt to harvest the seeds. I don't eat them, but John loves them and it seemed like a fun project. It was and John said he liked them, although I think there was only seeds in about half of the shells. Who knows why?

  2. T - You do make it sound wonderful in Ashland. I'd love to live in a place with around so many farms and to have a lot of open space to enjoy. I say that's where we set up the compound. :) I don't know if you've heard yet, but I'm prego. I'm due in June and sick as a dog. Love You!!!
