Arizona- having fun and getting things done.

After our vacation with John's family in Oregon- I flew with the kids to spend a week with my parents and sister in Arizona.  While still a vacation, and loving spending time with my parents (and the kids with their grandparents), I also took care of a little business, you know, things on my to-do list; errands.  It was great, and there isn't anyone much better to shop with than my mom!

  1. Shopping- I shopped sales and second hand stores and found some great clothes for the kids (and a couple things for me and my growing belly). I also bought fabric for making Ivy a few dresses when I return, and my mom fixed an old halloween costume for Asher as well as an old dress of mine for Ivy.
  2. Dental work- I love having a dad who is a dentist.  He fixed my chipped tooth and I got my teeth polished and cleaned.
  3. Having FUN- we swam in the backyard, watched the olympics some more, visited with a few friends (enjoyed sitting outside under an umbrella enjoying the best monsoon rain with some of our favorite Boston friends), and ate lots of the food I was missing or craving.
  4. Prepare for baby #3- I always thought that once we had a boy and a girl in the family, I might forgo finding out the gender of the baby until delivery day.  However, practicality set in and since all of our baby stuff is in storage in the States, I wanted to bring it back with me on this trip- so, thanks to a family friend and also former employer, I was able to get an ultrasound for early pictures of our baby BOY!  We're so excited for Asher to get a little brother and for Ivy to stay the princess of the family a little longer.
Coincidentally, the gender/ birth order of our kids is the same as in both my family and John's (boy, girl, boy).  So, if our boy is anything like their uncles Drew and Matt- we will be so so lucky. I packed up all the boy baby clothes and things and they are back here with me in Dubai- ready for the nesting to begin!

I'm sorry I held out on that news for a good month- I'm just getting caught up with the blogging, that's all. Thanks to those of you that asked.

  8. I know hilarious that Ivy's eyes are wide open. I normailly don't wear my sunglasses underwater, but my mascara was running and I just left them on instead of cleaning my face off. I'm so vain!
