Happy Halloween!

Bye bye Halloween! Bye Bye October! We had a good month with costume parties, pumpkin picking and carving, apple picking (and juicing, and drying and baking) and a lots of pictures, candy and most likely a few extra pounds to prove it. Here are a few photos of our costumes, we got to wear them multiple times starting with the church party last week, the Slaugh's party in California, preschool Halloween party, the Ashland Halloween parade and actual Halloween night. Asher still fit in his Nemo costume from 2 years ago (I thought it fit pretty cute 2 years ago too- go figure), John went as Marlin (Nemo's dad). I dressed as Peter Pan and Ivy was Tinkerbell. Asher also had the option of dressing as Peter Pan, so he wore that one trick-or-treating last night and Nemo to everything else. When you're 2 you've got to have options right? Trick-or-treating was great, Uncle/Cousin/Neighbor Brett towed a haycovered flatbed trailer with the tractor (same one we used for preschool) and took the kids around the neighborhood. There was probably close to 20 kids and multiple parents on board for the ride. They all piled off every 15 houses or so and loved every minute of it. Asher attempted to lead the singing of "old McDonald" and was frustrated when not many joined in (I think he was the youngest on board). Ivy slept in the suburban convoy of moms that drove behind, and I was in and out of the warmth to see little Asher trick-or-treat and love every minute of it. He was very good at saying "thank-you" to everyone, but not very good in his treat selection. One lady told him to take whatever he wanted. She had a huge bowl full of tons of yummy chocolate and candybars, Asher took his time and then turned around, beaming with a jolly rancher in each hand. He was most excited about those and the "stuckers" ie. dumb dumbs and mini tootsie pops.

sadly, I don't think I have a family pic on my camera, but I will post one if someone else sends me a copy (same with any photos of John- I do love him and love that he was willing to dress so silly, I'm sorry I don't have a photo to show it).

  1. How fun! Halloween on the "farm" is great. Nana and all her pumpkins. Your kids are darling.

Claire didn't like the rice cereal all that much. I am going to try again in the morning. I will keep you posted.

  5. Toria, what a cute coincidence. Kimber put that same Tinkerbell costume on her oldest, Tyler, this year. I was with her when she picked it out, shoes and all, and we were both gushing over it. Glad to see you have our same good taste! If we had only thought of the Peter Pan thing - that's the icing on the cake! So cute.

  6. how fun. I'll have to see the other Kimber's Tinkerbell pics, although my mom gets the credit for the good taste since she sent the costume AND made the shoes. The shoes didn't fit and I couldn't find any other ones so I just cut the toes out of the ones my mom sent. Pretty clever. I put together my costume and made my hat :) I made Nemo and Marlin with the help of my mom (or I guess she made them with my help is more like it)
